SANKOFA.iN.CiPher

Sankofa.in.Cipher is a newly formed for profit organization and movement that is dedicated to the development and upliftment of Afrikan peoples everywhere. Sankofa.in.Cipher is in the process of creating a website and developing various products and services which will directly fund Afrikan organizations. Sankofa.in.Cipher will use part proceeds of every product(s) or service(s) sold from the website to fund seven community organizations. These organizations include: African Canadian Heritage Association, African Image Makers, It Takes A Village, Jamaican Canadian Association Youth Affairs Committee, Mother Africa’s Children (PRI) First, Prospect Primary Alumni Association & Umoja Learning Circle.


Sankofa.In.Cipher Objectives:

  • To organize ourselves in a pragmatic manner to deal with the upliftment of Afrikan Peoples everywhere

  • To work towards the spiritual, educational, economical and socio-political development of our people

  • To leave positive and long lasting legacies for seven generations of Afrika’s Children

  • To build institutions that will educate and heal our people worldwide

  • To use the art of spoken word/dub poetry to inform, incite and awaken unconscious minds & to act as a cultural ambassador around the world

  • To offer scholarships for Afrikan youth so they can pursue higher education

  • To unify organizations that are working towards Afrikan development


HOW CAN PEOPLE SUPPORT THIS INITIATIVE?

  • Purchase tickets to come out to the many edutainment events

  • Support the owner of the establishment by spending money on food and drinks

  • Support vendors by purchasing their products and/or services

  • Make a small contribution by volunteering to uplift and develop your community

  • Be an individual sponsor of the initiative by making monetary and/or non-monetary contributions

  • Teach or mentor one youth from the community

HOW CAN PEOPLE BENEFIT FROM THIS INITIATIVE?
  • Enjoy an uplifting and spiritual evening of poetry, drumming and dance

  • Practice co-operative economics by recycling dollars in the Afrikan community

  • Assist in creating funding for our community organizations

  • Assist in guiding and educating our youth towards actualizing their full potential

  • Individual sponsors will receive a CD and a pair of tickets to the Project launch in 2005

  • Business sponsors will receive a CD, Website Listings and a pair of complimentary tickets to the Project launch in 2005

Sankofa.in.Cipher will donate $1.00 from every product or service sold from its website. Sankofa.in.Cipher will make monetary payments three times a year (after every four months) to the community organizations listed below:
African Canadian Heritage Association (ACHA), African Image Makers (AIM), It Takes A Village (ITAV), Jamaican Canadian Association Youth Affairs Committee (JCA YAC), Mother Africa’s Children (PRI) First (MACPRI), Prospect Primary Alumni Association (PPAA) & Umoja Learning Circle (ULC). Sankofa.in.Cipher will not limit its funding and support to only these organizations but is committed financially to sup

port the above organizations indefinitely.

Sankofa.in.Cipher seeks to answer the questions that Marcus Mosiah Garvey asked, “Black man, where are your banks? Where are your universities? Where are your armies?”. In order for Afrikans to succeed we need to become self-reliant, so that we will be better able to educate our children, fund our own businesses and protect ourselves from crimes and poverty.
